Story & Themes
Fallout Shelter puts players in the role of Vault Overseer in the post-Nuclear War world of Fallout. As the overseer, players will manage nearly every aspect of the Vault community, from the customization of the residents' skills, jobs, and romantic lives to the structuring of the Vault itself. Players can also send characters outside of the Vault to explore the Wasteland and gather supplies. Occasionally, the Vault will come under attack from Raiders, and players must be prepared to send their Vault Dwellers into action against the threat. As the dwellers gain abilities and the Vault expands, players will find themselves in charge of a growing and prospering community.
Fallout Shelter is about managing resources, and therefore the game's challenge arises only when players must strategize and multitask. Otherwise, the game uses basic touchscreen controls that are easy to master.
Violence When Raiders attack, characters will fight them off with melee weapons or guns. No blood is depicted.
Sex & Nudity Some of the characters wear revealing clothing, though nothing is very gratuitous due to the cartoon art style. Players can also choose to have two Vault Dwellers romance each other and make a baby, but nothing is shown on screen.
Substance Use Alcohol and certain drugs can be collected and used by Vault Dwellers.
Consumerism Though Fallout Shelter is free-to-play, the game does offer optional in-game purchases.
