Story & Themes
While Everybody's Gone to the Rapture focuses on storytelling over gameplay, the game's narrative is only uncovered piece by piece through exploration. The bulk of the story is revealed through beings of light (similar to ghosts) that appear sporadically and reenact past conversations between people. By observing the interactions between these beings and uncovering other clues scattered throughout the game, players will gradually come to a better understanding about why everyone in the small, Shropshire village suddenly disappeared.
Difficulty
Everybody's Gone to the Rapture's controls are about as simple as it gets (remember: hold down the R2 trigger to sprint!). The game isn't mentally taxing either as it doesn't feature any puzzles, so players in search of a challenge akin to what Myst offers should look elsewhere.
Heads Up!
Violence The most realistic-looking signs of violence that players encounter are bloody tissues strewn on the the ground. Acts of violence occur between the light beings, such as when one kills another with a hammer.
Sex & Nudity Players will encounter references to adultery and sex (or "screwing" as it appears in the game).
Strong Language Swearing is infrequent but strong, with words like "f*ck" and "c*nt" appearing periodically.
Substance Use Cigarettes can be found throughout the areas, and some of the light beings are seen smoking in memories. Bottles of alcohol are also featured in the pub.
