Story & Themes
Although Dota 2 is based on the storified Warcraft games, there isn't much of a continuing storyline in the game. Instead, two teams of five players each compete to take over each other's strongholds (one in each corner of the map). Each player controls one Hero; there are 109 Heroes to choose from, each with different abilities and strengths.
Save Points
Like any online multiplayer game, players can expect to be stuck in the game until the battle is finished.
Difficulty
Like any organized sport, Dota 2 can be complicated, especially depending on the skill level of your teammates and rivals.
Heads Up!
Violence There is some minimal blood spatter when characters are attacked. The nature of the game is inherently somewhat violent--the goal is to beat the other team, which ostensibly means killing the Heroes--but the violence is aesthetic.
Sex & Nudity Some characters (particularly female characters) appear scantily clad.
Strong Language While there is no strong language in the game, player interactions cannot be accounted for.
Substance Use Some characters (for instance, the Brewmaster) are normally depicted with alcohol. Characters cannot drink per se, however.
Discrimination While there are many different Heroes to choose from, there are more male than female Heroes. Some characters may be racially insensitive.
