Story & Themes
Disney Infinity has two main kinds of gameplay: Play Sets and Toy Box. With Play Sets, the player can explore various worlds inspired by Disney and Marvel films, using characters from those movies to solve puzzles, defeat bad guys, and win campaigns with up to two players at a time.

In Toy Box mode, players can design their own levels with tools that they have unlocked in the Play Sets. They can also use character figurines, world discs, and power discs to unlock bonus content using a real-world device called the Infinity Base.

The 3DS version uses an altered version of the Infinity Base, and up to four players can play mini-games together at a time. In the PC version does not support the Infinity Base, and instead players can download digital representations of the figurines and input a code to their game to unlock the game material.
Difficulty
Because of the nature of the Toy Box game mode, build-your-own levels can be created at various difficulty levels. The precision necessary to build complex things could be difficult for young kids, and even adults.
Heads Up!
Violence Disney Infinity features cartoon violence akin to what you might see in The Incredibles, Wreck-It Ralph, Pirates of the Caribbean, or other features from the Walt Disney Company.
Consumerism Disney Infinity not only requires kids to collect various figurines to unlock certain characters, mini-games, and bonus goodies within the game, it also encourages kids to go and watch Disney movies and play other Disney games.
Discrimination While there are several female characters, the ratio is not 50/50, and there is a definite deficit of characters of color and LGBTQ characters.
Online Community
The Toy Box mode can be played online, and while you are playing online you can share items with your online partner. However, you can only play with people you have added as friends (so no strangers).
