Story & Themes
Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is a remake of the 2010 third-person platformer starring Mickey Mouse in an original adventure.
While visiting a wizard, Mickey spills magic ink on a model set of the Wasteland, where forgotten Disney characters are stored. The ink turns the world into a dark, monstrous setting, and Mickey is pulled inside.
Armed with a magic paintbrush, Mickey explores the twisted, monster-filled version of Disneyland, meeting new allies and battling enemies inspired by classic Mickey Mouse shorts, films, and stories, such as Steamboat Willie.
The game was partially inspired by Disney reacquiring the rights to one of their earliest characters, Oswald the Rabbit, who predates even Mickey Mouse.
Although filled with Disney characters and themes, Disney Epic Mickey is a darker adventure with a more serious story than the average Mario platformer. Throughout the story, Mickey is given a choice to destroy or save enemies, providing some interesting moral themes and a redemption arc.
Heads Up!
Violence Mickey can jump and spin to defeat enemies, as well as cover them in paint thinner to completely destroy them.
Scary Imagery The world of Disney Epic Mickey is darker than the average Disney game, with a few creepy ink-monsters and animatronics.
