Story & Themes
Dead Rising 3 takes place in the year 2021. Though it features different characters, it does take place 10 years after the previous installment in the series. The game follows Nick Ramos, a mechanic living in Los Perdidos, California--a fictional city. After a fresh zombie outbreak, Nick finds out that the government intends to bomb Los Perdidos in six days time. Nick and his friends make a plan to escape, but Nick is bitten by a zombie before the plan can come to fruition. Instead of turning into a member of the undead himself, however, he appears to suffer no ill effects of the bite--he is somehow immune.
It turns out that the outbreak has been orchestrated by a handful of government officials, and Nick himself is at the center of it all. Events in his childhood have led to his immunity, and he is the key to the cure.
Save Points
Unlike previous Dead Rising games, players can save their progress anywhere.
Difficulty
Players should be aware that in Nightmare Mode, the game functions like previous Dead Rising games--players can save only at savepoints (toilets) and will also have a time limit.
Heads Up!
Violence Dead Rising 3 is extremely violent. Though a majority of violence is done against the undead, there is plenty of blood and gore. Players must take advantage of their surroundings in order to kill massive swathes of zombies. There are a number of weapons players can pick up and use in conjunction with others, including things like chainsaws, tire irons, and gasoline and matches. While most enemies are zombies, there are also human enemies in the game.
Scary Imagery Although Dead Rising 3 is not a horror game, those who are unsettled by zombie activity should definitely beware.
Sex & Nudity Some characters are dressed rather provocatively. There are also several weapons that resemble sex toys or are phallic in nature, and characters can enter a sex shop at one point. However, is there

Substance Use Characters drink a variety of liquors in order to gain energy. If they drink too much, however, they will vomit.
Online Community
Two players can join a Dead Rising 3 game at once. They do not have to travel together, but may unlock special vehicles etc. if playing in Co-op mode.
