Difficulty
Most of the game is about social interaction but the mini-games are quite easy, appropriate for young child.
Heads Up!
Violence The extent of violence in the game is very limited. Penguins can throw non-harmful objects like snowballs and hot sauce but that is all.
Scary Imagery There is no scary content in the game itself. Players may say things to scare each other, however.
Sex & Nudity There is no nudity as there are not human characters. Sexual content is limited to what interactions users might get past the filters, such as what they might say in chat or how they manipulate the penguin animations.
Strong Language Swear words are not present in the game itself. Swearing and objectionable language is also blocked in the chat. This may not always stop users from coming up with inventive ways to write out bad words, however (like "s3x", etc.).
Substance Use None
Consumerism The game does encourage consumerism. Kids are encouraged to get a subscription and emphasis is placed on getting more and more stuff for your penguins. There are also ties to Disney products and the Disney store, since the game is owned by Disney.
Discrimination The penguins are inherently genderless, so children can choose to present however they want to and change any time they feel like it. The penguins can also be any of a rainbow of colors, so ethnicity is of far lower prominence than it normally is in games. However, members with more money will have benefits over non-subscription players, so there are elements of class-bias.
Online Community
The community is generally good and friendly, although you will certainly find kids being mean to each other in the way that kids usually are. You also have members who do inappropriate things. However, there are a number of measures in place that allow you to limit how your child interacts online so that this is not a problem.
