Civilization: Beyond Earth

Civilization: Beyond Earth has a simple storyline that begins with an exodus from a doomed Earth. Humanity must locate and settle colonies on a new world. While previous Civilization games are based in real-world history (though highly fictionalized), Beyond Earth is set in the future in a more science-fiction environment. Players will fend off local alien life, research projects like terraforming, and ultimately decide the fate of humanity. Beyond Earth doesn't have much of a story, but players will choose a specific colony to begin with and make decisions about who to ally with and how they will achieve safety for their people.

Players can save at any time, unless in an online multiplayer game.

There are several difficulty modes. However, for players who are unfamiliar with previous Civilization games, Beyond Earth may be difficult to grasp, mechanically.

As a leader in Civilization: Beyond Earth, you don't have to deal with many repercussions from your decisions in terms of how people look up to you. How is this unrealistic? How might it be realistic in other ways (i.e., leaders treating the populace as a tool vs. a group of individuals)?
