Story & Themes
Battlefield 1's single player story mode is divided into six different campaigns that range the multiple fronts of World War I. Each campaign follows a different character, from a Bedouin rebel to an Italian special forces agent, allowing players the opportunity to experience the personal stories of individuals fighting in the war. The narrowed focus makes for a more intimate look at warfare, and the multiple campaigns provide a range of gameplay mechanics such as flying a plane and piloting a tank.
The game autosaves fairly frequently.
As a whole, Battlefield 1's controls are fairly easy to pick up, though some of the more specialized mechanics like flying a plane may take a bit more time to learn.
Violence Battlefield 1 doesn't shy away from depicting the bloody reality of combat. Players can defeat enemy forces with an array of firearms, explosives, and occasionally melee weapons. Dismemberment and gore are common sights.
Strong Language Characters will occasionally utter strong profanities like "f*ck" or "sh*t."
Consumerism Battlefield 1 is part of a large, successful franchise that typically incorporates DLC into its games.
Battlefield 1 includes a massive online multiplayer mode, though its offline single player mode is also worth experiencing.
