Story & Themes
Apotheon follows the story of Nikandreos, a young warrior whose family and village are destroyed in a raid. Nikandreos seeks revenge by gathering a force of soldiers and defeating the leader of the raiding party. Afterwards, he enters a temple and Hera, one of the Greek goddesses, meets with Nikandreos and informs him that Zeus has turned his back on humanity and wishes for its destruction. In defiance of her husband, Hera instructs Nikandreos to kill Zeus and the other gods, take each one's gift, and ultimately save all of humanity.
The game has three different difficulty modes.
Violence Nikandreos slays plenty of enemies in his quest to save humanity, and once killed these characters emit bursts of blood. However, the art style lessens the level of realism and the overall impact of the violence.
Sex & Nudity Some of the game's paintings are of nude individuals in keeping with the Ancient Greek style.
Strong Language Some mild language, such as "damn."
Substance Use In an optional side quest, players can take up Dionysus' challenge of chugging several bottles of wine.
Players can download the online multiplayer modes for free in a separate, standalone title called Apotheon Arena. These modes aren't included as a part of the base game.
