Story & Themes
Angry Birds 2 has the same backstory as its predecessor. The green pigs of Piggy Island have stolen the eggs from the birds' nests, and, in order to reclaim them, the birds must attack the barricades that the pigs have constructed. The game's physics-based gameplay revolves around the destruction of these barricades as players choose which bird to launch into the structures and at what angle to release the slingshot. Unlike the first game, the number and types of birds that can be used are limited to which character cards the player possesses. The goal is to dismantle the tower of blocks and defeat the green pigs while avoiding doing any harm to the eggs.
The original Angry Birds was easy to learn but puzzles involved a certain amount of trial-and-error to beat. However, in Angry Birds 2, the layout of the level will change somewhat every time the level is replayed, thereby replacing some of the predecessor game's hard work with an element of chance and luck.
Violence The enemy pigs are defeated by being flattened when knocked into. Players will also battle bosses, though the "fighting" strategy uses the same formula of launching birds into the pig boss with a slingshot.
Consumerism Angry Birds 2 is free-to-play and doesn't require an up-front purchase upon installing the game. However, many players will be inclined to buy the game's gems using real money in order to replenish their lives more quickly.
Players can connect to Facebook in order to compete against other players, but this is completely optional.
