The annual Summer Games Done Quick speedrunning marathon has come to an end. Games Done Quick has announced that Summer Games Done Quick 2025 raised $2,436,614 for international charity, Doctors Without Borders. That’s just under last year’s $2.5 million raised.
This year’s SGDQ event was hosted at the Hilton Minneapolis in Minnesota, and welcomed over 2,600 in-person attendees. This year saw the first Artist Alley, where designers and developers sold merch and demo’d games at booths. The event also featured a live performance by game music rock group, The Megas.
Thousands more tuned in via the live streams on Twitch.tv, and all the runs are archived on GDQ’s YouTube page.
Popular speedruns include Belatro, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, Super Mario Maker 2, Blue Prince, Beat Saber, and The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. The 24-hour marathon schedule concluded with the brand new Mario Kart World, and an epic 4-hour Deltarune run.
I personally enjoyed watching the Spelunky series run (above), as well as the nostalgic Plants vs. Zombies, which featured commentary from the original art designer.
Games Done Quick’s next charity event is Flame Fatales. Flame Fatales is an all-women showcase held online September 7-14. Following that is an all-new speedruning event, Games Done Queer, from October 31-November 2.
