Sonic Team released the third and final prologue episode of Sonic X Shadow Generations: Dark Beginnings. Dark Beginnings is the prologue story that precedes upcoming Sonic spin-off game, Shadow Generations.

The five minute episode features Shadow leading Rouge and Omega into a G.U.N. facility, and lots of explosive action ensues. The vivid colors and slick animation are pretty awesome.

Sonic X Shadow Generations is a two-in-one game bundle that includes a remaster of 2011’s Sonic Generations, and the all-new Shadow Generations. Shadow Generations stars Shadow, a brooding, badass version of Sonic with a traumatic past and special time-stopping powers called Chaos Control. Shadow’s story runs parallel to Sonic’s as he hunts down his revived arch nemesis.

Gameplay features a mixture of 2D side-scrolling and 3D exploration, while Shadow’s hubworld is fully 3D and open world.

Sonic X Shadow Generations is launching on October 25 for PC, PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox consoles. The physical Day One Edition includes a 28-page journal from Gerald Rotobnik, while the Digital Deluxe Edition includes three days early access, and a unique level inspired by the upcoming movie, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which features Shadow (played by Keanu Reeves – nice).

Sonic the Hedghog 3 is in theaters December 20. Sonic X Shadow Generations is rated E10+ for Fantasy Violence.
