Story & Themes
Like many life sims, My Time at Sandrock begins with the customizable player character arriving in a barren town. The post-apocalyptic world is on the mend, and it's the player's job to rebuild the town, expand their home and farm, help the townsfolk, and defeat monsters in the surrounding areas. Sandrock is clearly inspired by Old West towns in look, feel, and residents, except everyone is way friendlier and welcoming.
Each day players need to manage their stamina levels and the clock to efficiently use their energy each day before having to sleep at night.
My Time at Sandrock is not a "cozy" life sim (a la Animal Crossing) as it does feature enemies and combat, and one of the main plotlines is defending the town against bandits and monsters.
In single-player mode, players can enjoy a lengthy, 50+ hour story with lots of side quests and NPCs to interact with as they rebuild the town.
My Time at Sandrock also features a multiplayer mode, with progression based on completing quests and crafting tools and objects, for up to four players.
Difficulty
My Time at Sandrock does not have difficulty settings, but players can change the game speed so they have more time during the day (or less!).
Heads Up!
Violence Combat is a part of the game. Players battle beasts and robots using melee weapons and guns, but the art style and animations are "cartoony."
Sex & Nudity While there is no nudity or reference to sex, players can romance certain NPCs and marry them, eventually having children.
Strong Language Mild - the word "damn" appears.
Substance Use Minor reference to beer.
Consumerism DLC is available in the form of cosmetic packs (Starlight Collection) and at least one gameplay expansion (Monster Whisperer).
Online Community
Up to four players can play Multiplayer Mode on PC or Xbox (Switch & PlayStation coming soon). Multiplayer Mode uses workshop reputation instead of story progression, and uses dedicated servers.
