Application Systems and indie developer Wabisabi Play have announced that Growbot is coming to PC, Mac, and Linux (Steam, GOG) on October 21.

Growbot is a classic 2D point and click adventure game created by Lisa Evans, who founded Wabisabi Play. Evans is a UK-based children’s book illustrator. She learned game design with Unity in order to make her lovely art style animated and interactive.

In Growbot you play as Nara, the titular robot who lives aboard a “biopunk” space station. When the station is attacked by an outbreak of invasive alien crystals, Nara will need to solve puzzles, repair the ship, and rescue her friends to save everyone.

The publisher cites other adventure games such as Machinarium and even Myst as as you interact with items and characters and craft recipes. Nara’s biological companion, Brainapilla, acts as an in-game hint system to nudge you in the right direction.

Growbot will release on October 21 on PC. It has not been rated by the ESRB, but seeing as how it’s based on children’s book illustrations, it should be pretty safe for kids.
