Funcom and developer The Bearded Ladies have released Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It’s an XCOM-like tactical strategy game mixed with an RPG as you take on the role of post-apocalyptic survivors scrounging in the wasteland. Watch the new launch trailer above.
“We are a small indie team and it has been a long and challenging journey getting to where we are today, but we are incredibly proud of what we have created with Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden,” says Haraldur Thormundsson, CEO, The Bearded Ladies. “With Funcom’s support we have had the opportunity to create the game we have always wanted to make. Now it is in the hands of the players and we cannot wait to hear what they have to say about it.”
Judging by the promotional artwork of the star characters you may think Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe. Nope! It’s based on a tabletop RPG, originally published as Mutant in 1984, and most recently as Mutant: Year Zero in 2014. It features a Fallout-like post-apocalyptic world of mutated monsters, doomsday cults, and black humor.
Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is available in a Standard Edition ($34.99) and a Deluxe Edition ($54.99). The Deluxe Edition includes the latest version of the Mutant: Year Zero tabletop RPG, as well as an artbook, soundtrack, and digital wallpaper. The game is also included in the Xbox Game Pass program for Xbox One. It’s rated M for Mature.
