Story & Themes
The story of Civilization VI is what players choose to make it. Each game generally follows the same basic format in that time progresses as players build and expand their civilizations, but otherwise player choice greatly impacts the shape of each playthrough. By picking which leader to play as, where to settle, and what to build and research, players will decide the course their game takes.
Civilization VI allows for five different types of victories: Science, Culture, Faith, Domination, and Score. By focusing on one of these fields, players can achieve a victory over their opponents while also determining which aspects of the gameplay will be at the forefront. A Domination victory, for instance, relies on building and maintaining a strong military while a Culture victory requires players to generate tourism by collecting Great Works and artifacts. Every victory has its own focus, though players looking for something more well-rounded may be interested in competing for the highest overall score.
Save Points
The game autosaves occasionally and can also be quicksaved or saved from the menu during the player's turn.
Difficulty
The game has numerous difficulty modes and a tutorial system. However, players new to the series may need to take some time to figure out all of the different components of the game.
