Bethesda unveiled a lot of new games and updates to old ones during their E3 media briefing. One of the surprises was that Fallout 4 will be seeing a virtual reality release for the HTC Vive in 2017. Both Fallout 4 and Doom were both being shown off as virtual reality demos that the briefing.
“We think that VR is the perfect fit for truly immersive games like our massive open-world RPGs,” Bethesda VP of Marketing & PR Pete Hines said in an official release. “If you thought Survival Mode was an intense Fallout experience… you ain’t seen nothing yet.”
Bethesda promised that Fallout 4 is just the beginning of what the company plans to offer for virtual reality headsets in the future. A post on Bethesda’s official site reads, “Fallout 4’s upcoming VR release is just a glimpse of where Bethesda is headed with VR. It’s all part of Bethesda’s drive to remain a leader in cutting edge technology – including VR – and to offer fans the best games on whatever platform they choose.”
