A new game in the storied farming life simulation genre is getting yet another entry. Harvest Moon: Skytree Village will be hitting the Nintendo 3DS later this year.
“After the evolutionary Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley and a successful jaunt to mobile platforms with Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories, we are really excited to share everything we have learned with our fans,” said Hiro Maekawa, President and CEO of Natsume in an official release. “Our community is very important to us, and their feedback and input has been taken into account a great deal in the development of Harvest Moon: Skytree Village! We hope they will see and feel their contribution in this new game!”
Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley received mostly negative reviews. Based on the announcement Natsume is hoping Skytree Village will resonate more with fans. One of the things that might have had an impact on the quality of The Lost Valley was a switch in developer. Up until that game, Marvelous had been the developer. I’m a huge Harvest Fan. I didn’t play The Lost Valley, but I did play the mobile version of Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories and enjoyed it quite a bit.
But now it’s time to address the elephant in the room, and that’s the immensely popular indie PC game Stardew Valley. That game has taken more than a little inspiration from the Harvest Moon series. Stay tuned to Pixelkin for an upcoming comparison piece by our resident Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley lover, me.
