Capcom announced today the first post-launch character for Street Fighter V. That character is Alex, who originally appeared in Street Fighter III. Besides Alex, the In-Game Shop for earned currency has come to the game.

Alex is “a brash grappler whose bold attitude often gets him into trouble. His parents died while he was still young, so he was raised by his father’s friend who taught him everything he knows about fighting,” according to an official release.

The earned currency is called Fight Money, and players can use it to purchase characters, costumes and other content. Eventually the shop will have items available for a premium price. Capcom also released updates to the game earlier this week that added features like Challenge Mode, an Online Rematch Option, as well as improvements to the Battle Lounge.

Finally, the announcement from Capcom is offering Ryu and Chun-Li’s Story Mode Costumes for Free as a way of saying thanks to the players who have supported the game and gave feedback during the beta and after the launch.

Street Fighter V was released in February. The game received mostly good reviews upon its release, but was criticized for unstable online gameplay.
