There’s a new RPG on the horizon called Scalebound. It’s all about a dragon and a young man. PlatinumGames originally planned to release the Xbox-exclusive game in 2016, but the company just announced that it will be delayed until 2017.
“In order to deliver on our ambitious vision and ensure that Scalebound lives up to expectations, we will be launching the game in 2017,” PlatinumGames explained. “This will give us the time needed to bring to life all the innovative features and thrilling gameplay experiences that we have planned.”
The devs went on to say that things are going well, however. “Scalebound is one of the biggest games PlatinumGames has ever created: an epic adventure filled with exploration and fantasy gameplay, inventive multiplayer, and action-packed battles on an unbelievable scale—all set in a beautiful and evolving world. It’s the game our team has always dreamed of making.”
PlatinumGames director Hideki Kamiya is the force behind Scalebound. Previously, he worked on some of the Resident Evil games and on Bayonetta.
In Scalebound, Drew, a young loner, goes on journey with a dragon named Thuban. They team up to save their parallel worlds. It’s a game about friendship and mutual respect. In an interview with IGN back in August, creative producer Jean Pierre Kellams described the relationship between the two as similar to Han Solo and Chewbacca from Star Wars.
