Story & Themes
Art Academy: Home Studio is an educational experience that encourages progress but lacks a storyline. The game offers a range of lessons that players can select based on their current level of skill. In every lesson, the game's "teacher," an animated master artist called Vince, demonstrates and explains the technique. Home Studio teaches primarily through copying, and players can use either Vince's step-by-step drawings or the original work of art to guide their own creations.
For players wishing to skip the educational bit entirely, the game also has a freeplay mode in which players can draw or paint whatever strikes their fancy.
Save Points
Game progress can be manually saved from the Options Menu.
Difficulty
Players with little experience drawing or painting are definitely recommended to start with the beginner-level lessons before working their way up to the more advanced lessons. The techniques can get fairly in-depth, though the step-by-step examples should help players to break down and work through the complexity.
Online Community
Players can upload their works of art to the Miiverse, but if they'd prefer, the option for a private gallery is also available.
