Story & Themes
In DC Universe Online, the future is bleak. Brainiac has taken over the world after a war between Super Heroes and Villains has brought Metropolis to the brink of ruin. Lex Luthor, the only survivor after Brainiac's takeover, has traveled into the past to prevent this catastrophe. He brings with him a technology stolen from Brainiac, Exobytes, a form of nanotechnology that bestows superhuman abilities upon whomever they bond with, and implores the Justice League to prepare a force to fight Brainiac's imminent threat.
As a player, the character you create has gained powers via the Exobytes and is original to the DC universe. You can choose to play as either a villain or a hero and, depending on what type of powers you choose to get, the mentor you report to is either Lex Luthor, Joker, or Circe on the villian side or Superman, Batman, or Wonder Woman on the hero side.

Heads Up!
Violence The game is action-heavy and features a fair amount of combat, but no blood or gore is depicted. Also, characters are knocked out instead of killed.
Sex & Nudity Some of the characters wear revealing clothing.
Strong Language Characters will occasionally use some very mild language.
Consumerism Though DC Universe Online can be played online for free, this method of play restricts the number of characters that can be created as well as the player's inventory and access to DLC content. Likely, players will be tempted to purchase a membership or, at the very least, purchase content from the in-game Marketplace.
