Story & Themes
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link features an older version of Link and a different incarnation of Princess Zelda. Zelda has been put into an enchanted sleep by her brother's wizard friend, a rash action that her brother regrets. Nevertheless, the spell can only be broken if the chosen hero, Link, restores six crystals to six different palaces spread throughout Hyrule. Once this is done, the door to the Great Palace will open, allowing Link to access the Triforce of Courage and awaken Zelda.
Save Points
The game can be saved virtually anytime either through the Item Screen or via dying. New players should note, however, that saving doesn't keep one's place if they're partway through a dungeon.
Difficulty
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link was always meant to be family friendly; however, players new to the game might find it challenging as it doesn't offer the features most players are used to such as autosaving or a tip system.
Heads Up!
Violence The game features eight-bit fantasy violence that is not likely to offend.
Discrimination Princess Zelda is one of the forerunners of the damsel in distress trope as it applies to video games. In Zelda II, she exists solely as an impetus for the game's action and is unconscious throughout its majority.
