Story & Themes
Wii Sports lacks any sort of story, focusing solely on gameplay instead. Players can simulate games of tennis, bowling, boxing, baseball, or golf using their Wii Remotes. For instance, when playing golf, players hold the remote in both hands like a golf club and swing it to hit the (virtual) ball. Games can be played with others locally with some, like bowling, supporting up to four players. A player can progress in the game by racking up a skill point total of 1000, at which point he/she attains "pro" status. Players can also track their fitness level while they play, taking into account factors such as age, speed, and stamina. Over time, the game will chart and graph the progression of the fitness level.
Save Points
Wii Sports saves your progress as long as you play as a Mii saved to your Wii. Any progress earned as a guest, however, will not be saved.
Difficulty
Wii Sports' controls are very simple and easy to figure out, though success does depend a bit on physical coordination. That being said, the game is great for families and young children shouldn't have too much trouble playing along.
Heads Up!
Violence The only violent sport is boxing, but between the cartoon-y appearance of the Wii avatars and the lack of any blood, the content is very mild.
