Story & Themes
In the first Darksiders game, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, War, was accused of triggering the apocalypse before it was time. Humanity has been wiped out. In Darksiders 2, you play as Death, War's brother. Death is convinced that War is innocent of causing the apocalypse, so he sets out to erase his brother's supposed crime by resurrecting humanity. In the course of his quest, Death will come into conflict with demons, angels, and everything in between.
Save Points
Darksiders 2 autosaves whenever anything important happens. It is also possible to save manually.
Difficulty
Darksiders 2 features difficulty settings, including an easy mode setting.
Heads Up!
Violence From the ESRB: "The melee-style combat is accompanied by screaming/flesh-rending sounds, bone-crunching effects, and exaggerated splashes of blood. Players can also initiate “cinematic kills” that depict additional violence: enemies getting impaled, decapitated, or dismembered (often amid slow-motion effects)—similar imagery can be seen during cutscenes."
Scary Imagery You are fighting against demons and the like, which can be kind of scary looking. Of course, the player character is Death himself, so you feel less vulnerable than you might while playing some survival horror games.
Sex & Nudity From the ESRB: "Some female characters (e.g., harpy-like creatures; a demon) are depicted with large amounts of exposed cleavage."
