Story & Themes
Remember Me is set in Paris in the year 2084. The Memorize Corporation has invented a device that allows people to upload and manipulate their memories online. Memorize has achieved a great deal of control over the population in this regard, which has led to a counter movement called the "Errorists," of which Remember Me's protagonist, Nilin, is a member of.

The story begins with Nilin escaping from her captors at the Bastille. She has had most of her memories wiped when Edge, a mysterious man who contacts her via comm and who calls himself the leader of the Errorists, tells her she's a talented memory-manipulator. Nilin works with the Errorists' help to re-infiltrate the Bastille and free her own memories (as well as other prisoners').

When she does so, however, she is reminded of the crime that landed her in prison in the first place, and must deal with the emotional consequences of that crime. Nilin continues to use her talent to remix the memories of Memorize's higher ups in order to convince them of the damage Memorize is doing, Meanwhile, new truths come to light, and Nilin must deal with more personal problems while trying to save Paris from its memory problem.

Remember Me's themes explore the meaning of memory, and especially how negative memories can come to shape our character for better or worse; the ethics of "saving people" from themselves; and state surveillance.

Representation Remember Me is notable for its protagonist, who is female and mixed race, a rare character background in video games. Moreover, Nilin is not the only woman or person of color in the game.
Save Points
Savepoints occur at set points in the gameplay, spaced fairly close together. However, once a savepoint has been reached, it may be difficult to go back to a past savepoint.
Heads Up!
Violence Nilin is forced to fight and defend herself, and while combat isn't very bloody, sometimes she will experience more graphic memories. It should be noted that Nilin is reluctant to engage in violence.
Sex & Nudity There is some waist-up female nudity present, but it is not ubiquitous.
Strong Language There is profanity in the game, including some gendered slurs.
Conversation Starters
- Would you remove bad memories if you could? Are there circumstances in which you think it would be kinder to remove negative memories for some people?
- There was some pushback against Remember Me having a female protagonist. Did Nilin's gender have any impact on your gameplay?
