“I’ve played Pokémon games as long as I can remember,” said Max Boiko, band lead and trumpet player. “I got a Game Boy Pocket and Pokémon Blue when I was about four. After studying music for a number of years, I revisited the games and the music and with my newly-found musical knowledge, and with the help of some friends who are also local NYC jazz musicians, we realized how incredible the music was and covered our favorite themes in our own way. Generation 3 (Ruby and Sapphire) are my favorite titles in the series and so of course I was glad to include them!”
The album was recorded in Queens, New York.
