Mediajuice Studios is celebrating the tenth anniversary of documentary Video Games: The Movie by announcing a new sequel. Video Games: The Next Level will “explore the rise of new gaming technologies, the explosion of eSports, the impact of streaming platforms, and the ongoing evolution of virtual and augmented reality.”

It’s certainly been a big ten years for a very fast-moving industry!

The sequel is being helmed by original series writer and director, Jeremy Snead. In the years since Video Games premiered, Snead has released several more gaming-focused documentaries and series, including Playing with Power: The Nintendo Story.

“Reflecting on the past ten years since the release of my film Video Games: The Movie, I’m amazed at how the industry has continued to grow,” said Snead. “What started as a passion project has become a testament to the ever-growing significance of video games in our lives. It’s been an incredible journey seeing the fans continue to embrace the film, and I’m thrilled to continue exploring through this new documentary where the gaming industry is and where it’s going.”

While the original documentary covered the history of video games and the gaming industry, the sequel will look at how gaming has evolved over the last decade, and what the future holds. Indie gaming, inclusivity, streaming, live service gaming, and more.
