G5 Entertainment is giving away 9 Clues: The Secret of Serpent Creek for free from today (August 24) until August 30.
The game 9 Clues: The Secret of Serpent Creek is a hidden-object game about a quest to uncover the mystery of Helen Hunter’s disappearance. Helen is a journalist, and more importantly, your best friend. She has gone to the coastal town of Serpent Creek to report on the Serpent Festival. Her last phone call was to you, asking for help uncovering some strange things she’s discovered in the town. She wanted you to join her immediately. However, when you arrive, you find the town covered in snakes, and no one remembers Helen at all. More disturbingly, there are tremors beneath the ground, and people are sleepwalking—and the first thing you see upon arriving at Serpent Creek is a humanoid, snakelike creature. It seems like a neat mix between Nancy Drew and R.L. Stein’s Goosebumps novels. According to the game’s description, you’ll “investigate mysterious locations and solve challenging puzzles to piece together what happened to Helen. Reveal the evil that clutches this crippled town and stop a nefarious plot to bring the Snake God back to our world!”
The gameplay will have you uncovering mysteries as you go, in the usual fashion (fingerprints, blood stains, murder weapons), as well as integrating the more occult stuff. Its key features are:

- thrilling story set in 1950s America
9 Clues: The Secret of Serpent Creek is completely free and available on iPad, iPhone, Android, Kindle Fire, and Mac, from today—August 24—till August 30. It was originally released July 18, 2013.
