“We’re very excited to present Life is Strange 2, one of our most important releases of the year. After the overwhelming success of the original, we knew that crafting a sequel that is every bit as compelling and powerful as the first game would be a real challenge”, said Jon Brooke, VP of Marketing at Square Enix. “We are confident that the talented team at Dontnod, who have been working closely with the Square Enix, have truly outdone themselves.”

Life is Strange 2 centers on two young brothers, 16-year old Sean Diaz and 9-year old Daniel Diaz. Their lives are upended as they are forced to flee their home together and survive on the long road from Seattle to Mexico. The sequel features a whole new cast of characters, new settings, new gameplay and a newly teased supernatural power to discover. As with the previous games, Sean will face difficult choices while tackling achingly relatable themes and challenges.

Fans of the soundtrack will be pleased to know that composer Jonathan Morali returns for another original soundtrack, in addition to a licensed soundtrack. The sequel is developed by Dontnod Entertainment, the developers of the original Life is Strange.

“After the exciting adventures of Max and Chloe, we are extremely happy that you will all soon meet Sean and Daniel Diaz, our new protagonists, and follow them on their journey.” said Michel Koch, Co-Creative Director at Dontnod Entertainment. “We love diving back into the Life is Strange universe along with our lead writer, Jean-Luc Cano, to create our new story and characters.”

Dontnod previously released The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit earlier this summer as a free lead-in to the sequel. It’s available to download for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Life is Strange 2 will be released over five episodes like the first adventure. The first episode will launch September 27. It’s rated M for Mature
