The DRM-free digital distribution provider GOG.com has officially added three of Bethesda’s RPGs to their catalog. Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion can now be purchased and played on PC without requiring Steam. All three games are being sold in their Game of the Year editions which include all officially released DLC.
As part of the release, the new additions as well as older Fallout and Elder Scrolls games are on sale throughout the weekend. Grab PC gaming classics like Fallout, Fallout 2 and The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind for 75% off. Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Oblivion are currently 50% off at $9.99 each.
Fallout 3 launched in 2008 as a massive 3D overhaul to the 90’s RPG series. Fallout: New Vegas released two years later, and was actually developed by Obsidian Entertainment. It was extremely buggy on release but has since been patched, and the four DLC packs were all well-received. New Vegas is generally considered the superior title but both games are fun post-apocalyptic romps within huge worlds.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion needs no introduction. Launched in 2006 it quickly became the benchmark for RPGs for the previous generation. It helped pave the way for modern open-world games, as well as the then-entirely new concept of Downloadable Content. Hardcore Elder Scrolls fans remain reminiscent for Morrowind, and 2011’s Skyrim is the behemoth best-seller that shattered records. But Oblivion is still a solid open-world adventure to lose dozens if not hundreds of hours in.
