Paradox Interactive announced an official launch date for sci-fi sim builder Surviving Mars, developed by Haemimont Games. Surviving Mars will release on March 15 for PC (Windows, Mac, Linux), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Pre-orders will begin later this month. Watch the new cinematic trailer above.

Surviving Mars puts you in control of designing and maintaining a habitable colony on Mars. You’re part of the initial colonization to the red planet. You must create sustainable colonies while dealing with rare resources and a dangerous environment. The randomly generated planet features a 1960s retro-future aesthetic. You’ll need to manage individually simulated colonists, who have their own strengths and weaknesses.

On consoles Surviving Mars will support 4K resolution on Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro. On PC players will benefit from full mod support, including mods available right at launch from Paradox’s stable of community creators.

Surviving Mars was first announced during Paradox’s convention PDXCON last summer.

Swedish developer and publisher Paradox is known for creating large, complex strategy games such as Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis, and Stellaris. They also published Cities: Skylines. Cities:Skylines has been universally praised as the true successor to SimCity. Surviving Mars is being developed by Haemimont Games, a Bulgarian studio best known for creating the Tropico sim management series.

Surviving Mars will launch on March 15 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It’s rated E for Everyone.
