The inaugural PAX Unplugged convention will take place in Pennsylvania this November. ReedPOP and Penny Arcade have announced the keynote speaker: Wizards of the Coast president Chris Cocks.

“Wizards of the Coast is a pillar of the card, board, and role-playing gaming space, and we feel privileged to welcome them as an exhibitor to the first PAX Unplugged, and have their leader Chris Cocks deliver the show’s Storytime keynote,” said Jerry Holkins, co-founder of Penny Arcade. “As massive fans of their work, as well as the other incredible properties Chris has contributed to over the years, we’re looking forward to his address in the City of Brotherly Love when PAX Unplugged kicks off this November.”

Cocks’ resumé includes Microsoft, where he worked at big franchises like Halo and Fable, as well as educational electronic products like LeapFrog. He’s been with Wizards of the Coast since 2016.

Wizards of the Coast is best known for two of the biggest properties in nerd-dom – Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering. The D&D label has been affixed to video games since the 80s, but PAX Unplugged is specifically all about board and card games, making WotC a perfect fit.

Tickets for PAX Unplugged are still available. Three Day Tickets are $60 while individual day tickets are $25 each. A special Sunday Kids Ticket for ages 6-12 is $10. The Kids Day pass gives full access to the show. Children five and under are free.

PAX Unplugged takes place November 17-19 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
