Devolver Digital has made waves in recent years as an indie game publisher (which begins to stretch the term ‘indie’). This year for E3 2017 they hosted their first ever press conference, if you can call it that. The entire event lasted only 15 minutes, was entirely pre-recorded, and announced no new games. It was also insanely fun. Note for the above video: Mature audiences only!

Devolver’s “Chief Synergy Officer” Nina Struthers (played by actress Mahria Zook) hosted the event and was absolutely incendiary, beginning with firing off a pistol to quiet the “audience.” Things just got crazier from there with fake blood, severed limbs, and even an exploding head.

The show poked fun at E3 shows and the gaming industry by mocking Early Access, forum commentary, and the general hype that builds around E3.

At some point we did get to see actual game trailers for Ruiner as well as Serious Sam’s Bogus Detour. Ruiner is an isometric action game set in a cyberpunk world. Serious Sam’s Bogus Detour is a top-down arcade-like shooter featuring co-op and Versus gameplay. Both titles are due later this year.

Ironically there was no mention of Devolver’s recently announced RPG, The Swords of Ditto, due early next year.
