We don’t see too many video game-movie tie-ins these days, but upcoming Pixar sequel Cars 3 may be popular enough to warrant one. WB Games has announced Cars 3: Driven to Win, a multiplayer racing game. It’s coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, and Nintendo Switch this June.

“It’s been an amazing experience to work with the team at Pixar once again for this new game for the beloved Cars franchise,” said John Blackburn, VP and GM at developer Avalanche Software. “With Cars 3: Driven to Win, we wanted to create a game that allows fans to extend their experience with this great film, and also feel the thrill of speeding through the tracks, participating in races, and mastering tricks and techniques for fun and the whole family.”

The game will take place after the upcoming film. More than 20 playable characters will be available, including Lightning McQueen, Cruz Ramirez, and Jackson Storm. Players can race on over 20 unique tracks across 13 locations from the films, such as Radiator Springs and the Florida International Speedway.

Cars 3: Drive to Win will support split-screen cooperative multiplayer – a must have for family-friendly racing. Six different modes will let players advance their racers and unlock new modes, tracks, and characters.

Developer Avalanche Software is better known for the Disney Infinity series. It’s nice to see them continuing work with Disney properties.

Cars 3: Driven to Win is scheduled to release on June 13, the same day as the Cars 3 film.
