Marvel Rivals is celebrating the Halloween season with its first official PvE mode: Zombies! As announced during Gamescom Asia, Marvel Rivals Zombies will arrive as a limited-time event on October 23.

Marvel Rivals Zombie Mode takes place on a single map: Midtown New York, and it’s absolutely lousy with zombies. Players form a team from the following heroes: Blade, Jeff, Magik, The Punisher, and Thor to battle the endless waves. The goal is to take out the two major bosses: Zombie Namor, and The Queen of the Dead.

Many hero shooter fans have been clamoring for more PvE content. Especially after Overwatch 2 initially promised full PvE stories and campaigns, only to backtrack after release.

Meanwhile, Call of Duty’s Zombies mode has become so popular it has its own Wikipedia page. Zombie modes (or Horde modes), when done well, are a fun way to turn competitive shooters into cooperative shooters.

Assuming Marvel’s Zombies mode is any good, I think I speak for everyone when I hope that it becomes a more permanent fixture. I would love more co-op and even single-player content that explores each hero, or different enemy types such as the Brood, or Sentinels. Provided such content doesn’t take away from the main course of competitive multiplayer.

For now, we’ll have to settle with the obvious Marvel Zombies crossover and Halloween seasonal event.

Marvel Rivals is currently in the middle of Season 4, having recently added Daredevil. The hero shooter is free-to-play on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, and rated T for Teen.
