The Infinity Nikki 2.0 Anniversary Update, Terra’s Call, is out now. Infinity Nikki 2.0 celebrates the open world gacha game’s first anniversary with a major overhaul across combat, exploration, storytelling, and of course, character customization. This is still technically a magical girl dress-up game, after all!
Check out the new opening, featuring OG Elphaba, Idina Menzel!
Version 2.0 adds an entirely new region, Itzaland. Itzaland is filled with dense, towering forests and ancient ruins, and home to the Shroomlings and Parksolians.
The big update also adds fun new ways of getting around the large open world, including grappling, low-gravity, and something called “gigantification.” Nikki can also wield a bow, which includes an optional new control system and combat companions.
The new update brings tons of new quests and content, some permanent, and others as limited-time events. See the official event guide for details.
“Infinity Nikki has always been about giving players the freedom to express themselves,” said Douhu, Lead Gameplay Systems Design, Infold Games. “With Version 2.0, we wanted to take that freedom even further. This update represents everything we’ve learned over the past year, and everything we still want to build together with our players.”
Infinity Nikki‘s gameplay is similar to The Legend of Zelda, if Link were a lot more fashion-focused, and the world featured more puzzles and platforming, and less combat. The game is entirely free-to-play, supported by in-game purchases.
Infinity Nikki went through a rollercoaster of fame, releasing to much love and fanfare, only to squander it all after a poor PC port and a badly-received Version 1.5 update. Hopefully this big update can help turn things around — Steam user reviews have steadily risen from Mixed to Very Positive.
Infinity Nikki is available on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), and PlayStation 5, and rated T for Teen.
