Pokémon’s 20th anniversary is being celebrated well beyond the games themselves. The popular and long-lived Trading Card Game is launching its latest expansion, XY – Evolutions. As a fun homage to its roots, you can also visit a fully recreated 90s era website.

Click the “Blast from the Past” button to transform the official website into a Geocities-style page with blasting music, spinning logos, and new mouse art. Fan Art of the original 151 Pokémon is proudly displayed at the bottom.

“The Pokémon brand launched in the ’90s with the introduction of the first video games and quickly became a global sensation,” said J.C. Smith, director of consumer marketing at The Pokémon Company. “This promotional website was an extremely fun project to develop for our fans. They’ll love learning about the Trading Card Game while exploring web design from the decade in which the cards were introduced.”

The website isn’t the only blast from the past. The expansion brings back the original wave of cards first launched in the late 90s. More than 100 cards have been reinvented using the latest rules update, including Mega Evolutions.

The Pokémon Trading Card Game is one of the most successful Collectible Card Games ever designed. Its intuitive game mechanics and popular franchise helped catapult it during a time when TCGs were as much a crazy fad as Pokémon itself.
