Save on Star Wars Games During May 4th Sales

Posted by | Mobile, News, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One | No Comments

Happy Star Wars Day! May the Fourth may be one of the punniest ‘holidays’ of the year, but it also brings deep discounts on Star Wars games for PC and consoles. Sadly it’s also a reminder that despite the recent resurgence in the Star Wars brand thanks to the new trilogy, there aren’t many recent Star Wars games to get excited about.

Steam

If you’re looking for older Star Wars (like 10-20 years ago), the Star Wars Complete Collection has just about everything you need. It includes over 20 games, from beloved BioWare RPG Knights of the Old Republic to the classic flight sim TIE Fighter and co-op LEGO action games. The bundle has been discounted by 72%, bringing it down to $76.16. Or you could pick and choose your favorites. Each game is individually discounted by 66%.

One of the few Star Wars games not included in the Complete Collection is the more recently released LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Oddly the Deluxe Edition (75% off), which includes the Season Pass, is cheaper than the base game (66% off).

GOG

As always GOG is your destination for DRM-free PC gaming. Their Star Wars sale is pretty much the exact same as Steam’s, though they do have one recent arrival: Star Wars: Episode 1 Racer from 1999. It just arrived a few days ago and as a new game on GOG it is discounted by 15%.

GOG is also hosting a weekend sale to celebrate Interplay’s 35th anniversary, which ironically includes a bunch of Star Trek games.

Origin

Since EA has the exclusive rights to the Star Wars license, you’ll find more modern Star Wars PC games on Origin. That consists of the much-maligned Star Wars Battlefront II, which launched last fall amidst controversy surrounding its loot boxes and microtransactions. You can pick it up now for 60% off.

PlayStation

With the exception of Battlefront II and LEGO Force Awakens it’s mostly older Star Wars games and FX Pinball tables on the PSN May the 4th Sale. Notably you can actually purchase play the old SNES Star Wars platformers on PS Vita, which are also part of the sale.

Xbox

Microsoft’s store includes May 4th sales on both XBox One and Xbox 360 Star Wars games: Battlefront 2, The Force Unleashed, LEGO Force Awakens, and Star Wars Pinball.

Mobile

Various ongoing free-to-play Star Wars games have deals on in-app purchases, including Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes and Star Wars: Commander. You can also snag Star Wars Pinball 6 for Free, and the mobile version of Knights of the Old Republic for 50% off on both iOS and Android.

Save Up to 40% on Amazon’s Tabletop Day Sale

Posted by | News | No Comments

Deal Alert! In honor of the upcoming annual International Tabletop Day this Saturday, April 28, Amazon is hosting an all-day sale on many tabletop board games. The sale ends at midnight.

There’s a nice assortment of easy kid games, intuitive family games, complex eurogames, and party games.

For kid-friendly games for the under 10 crowd, check out Enchanted Forest, Outfoxed, and Ravensburger Labyrinth.

If you have age 8+ kids and like to play games with the family, you’ll be interested in King of Tokyo, Forbidden Island (and Forbidden Desert), Castle Panic, The Quest for El DoradoCarcassonne, and Kingdomino (and Queendomino).

If you and your partner are looking for great two player games, look no further than 7 Wonders: Duel. If you do want to look a bit further, check out The Castles of Burgundy, and Caverna: Cave vs Cave.

For light-hearted party games see Dixit, Werewords, and the various Werewolf games.

Finally if your whole gaming group is looking to expand their collection you’ll find lots of great choices: Terraforming Mars, Photosynthesis, 7 Wonders, Arcadia Quest, Dead of Winter, and Five Tribes.

Many of these games are at historic low prices. On the flip side many of the best deals are already selling out, and seeing an instant price hike from third party Amazon sellers. Terraforming Mars was the best deal of the bunch at $35 (50% off), but it has since jumped up to $44 (36% off). It’s a similar story with Palace of Mad King Ludwig and Photosynthesis.

Note that the sale discount is taken off the standard retail MSRP. Amazon’s board game prices are very rarely listed at MSRP to begin with, so the actual sale prices are less impressive than they appear. Use price checking websites such as CamelCamelCamel to determine where these sale prices fall in relation to previous sales and price drops and get the best game for your buck.

The Amazon Tabletop Day sale ends tonight.

All the Gaming Deals on Amazon Prime Day 2017

Posted by | News, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One | No Comments

Amazon Prime Day is today, July 11. It’s a big sale dale for Amazon Prime subscribers, though past years have elicited disappointment from the gaming crowd. This year is fairing a bit better, at least with some nice console deals. Amazon even has categories you can search by, including one for Gamers.

It’s difficult to track down the deals since everything is available for limited time and stock. Lightning deals last for several hours but popular items sell out quickly. Amazon does list upcoming deals and when they start to help plan your shopping.

With that said, there are some particularly lucrative gaming deals for Amazing Prime Day 2017. The PlayStation 4 Slim 500 GB Uncharted 4 Bundle is $229 (24% off). This bundle is usually already marked down to $250, but $229 is one of the cheapest prices I’ve ever seen for a PS4. Plus for Prime Day you receive a digital code for The Last of Us Remastered and several digital comic books via Comixology, including Star Wars (2015) #1.

Current PlayStation 4 game deals include Prey for $29.99 (50% off), For Honor at $29.99 (50% off), and Dragon Quest Heroes II for $43.00 (28% off). Upcoming deals include Final Fantasy XV, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands, Dark Souls 3, and Overwatch.

Or how about an Xbox One? Amazon Prime lists two Xbox One S deals. The first is the Xbox One S 1TB Halo Wars 2 Bundle for $289, while the second is a 500GB bundle minus Halo Wars 2 for $239. Both bundles come with a second controller and three digital games: Forza Motorsport 6, Halo 5, and Recore.

Upcoming Xbox One game sales include LEGO Worlds and Dark Souls 3.

Nintendo’s sales are the lightest and, as expected, the busiest. Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is already 100% claimed (waitlist still available at the time of this post) while a deal on Mario Maker 3DS has already ended.

For the PC gaming crowd you can find several good deals on gaming mice, keyboards, and headsets from brands like Corsair and Turtle Beach.

Prime Day technically started last night, but should end around midnight tonight in your time zone.
