Celebrate Kirby’s 25th Anniversary with 25% Off Sale

Posted by | News, Switch, Wii U | No Comments

It’s been 25 years since the insatiable pink puffball called Kirby starred in his debut title, Kirby’s Dream Land on the Game Boy. Nintendo is celebrating Kirby’s 25th anniversary with a 25% off digital sale on Kirby titles for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. The sale ends at 9am Pacific/12 pm Eastern on August 8.

Thanks to the Virtual Console you can play all the original Kirby games, including the monochrome Kirby’s Dream Land via Nintendo 3DS. The sale includes titles from the early 90s Game Boy era up to last year’s Kirby: Planet Robobot for Nintendo 3DS.

Here are the full list of games and their sale prices on the Kirby sale. All games are 25% off.

Nintendo 3DS

  • Kirby: Planet Robot $29.99
  • Kirby: Triple Deluxe $14.99
  • 3D Classics: Kirby’s Adventure $5.24
  • Kirby’s Dream Land $2.99
  • Kirby’s Dream Land 2 $2.99

Wii U

  • Kirby’s Return to Dream Land $14.99
  • Kirby’s Adventure $3.74
  • Kirby Super Star $5.99
  • Kirby’s Dream Land $5.99
  • Kirby & The Amazing Mirror $5.24
  • Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards $7.49
  • Kirby Squeak Squad $7.49

During this year’s E3, Nintendo unveiled a trailer for an upcoming, untitled Kirby game for the Nintendo Switch. It looks like a more traditional Kirby platformer than hand-held recent entries. No release date other than 2018 was given.

Despite it being Kirby’s 25th anniversary, it’s been a quiet year for the pink hero. Only two Kirby games have released, both stand-along spin-offs from mini-games found in Planet Robobot. A third spin-off Kirby game is yet untitled but supposed to release later this winter.

The Kirby 25th Anniversary Sale ends August 8.

This year, and July specifically, marks the 25th anniversary for Crystal Dynamics. Crystal Dynamics is best known for the venerable Tomb Raider franchise, which has collectively sold over 58 million copies. To celebrate, the developers have partnered with GameChanger to offer an exclusive 25th Anniversary game bundle.

“This is a momentous milestone for Crystal Dynamics, one we’re delighted to share with gamers everywhere by using this time to give back to charities that move and inspire us,” said Scot Amos, Co-Head of Studio at Crystal Dynamics. “Our studio is full of passionate creatives who shaped Lara Croft and Tomb Raider into iconic franchises. Our developers constantly give of themselves, pouring their heart and their art into each game. Now we are giving back in another way through this GameChanger campaign.”

GameChanger gives money to children’s hospitals to support financial aid and video game gift packages. Like a Humble Bundle, the 25th Anniversary bundle features different tiers of games you can purchase depending on how much you wish to donate. One hundred percent of the proceeds go to the GameChanger Charity.

“At Crystal Dynamics, we continually push ourselves to try and master the craft of storytelling through art, animation and innovation,” said Noah Hughes, Franchise Creative Director at Crystal Dynamics. “Our Crystal Dynamics 25th Anniversary game bundle provides an awesome sampling of that creativity. We’re confident that longtime fans as well as new players will jump at the opportunity to play all of this amazing history in a single download while contributing to children’s hospitals through our partnership with GameChanger.”

For a measly $1 you receive several older, non-Tomb Raider titles from Crystal Dynamics’ library:

  • Legacy of Kain: Defiance
  • Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
  • Blood Omen 2: Legacy of Kain
  • Project Snowblind
  • Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2
  • Pandemonium

Bump your pay up to $15 and you’ll receive several new and old Tomb Raider titles:

  • Tomb Raider (2013)
  • Tomb Raider: Underworld
  • Tomb Raider: Anniversary
  • Tomb Raider: Legend
  • Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light
  • Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris

For $25 you receive all 12 games in the bundle. If you want to go above and beyond, $50 will also get you a GameChanger Charity swag pack. All game purchases are in the form of digital PC Steam keys. The goal is to raise $40,000 by the end of July.
