Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP

The Scythian, a mysterious warrior with unknown origins, is on a mission to reach Mingi Taw and destroy the evil Gogolithic Mass. She refers to her mission as a "woeful errand," and the game in general has a somber and dark tone which is wonderfully accented by The Scythian's modern slang and dry wit.

Along the way, The Scythian receives help from a girl called Girl, a man called Logfella, and a dog called Dogfella. The game also has a narrator who gives her advice and hints, though it's unclear what The Scythian thinks of him or how he came to be.

The story of Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP is subtle and leaves a fair amount to the imagination. It's broken into three chapters, and it uses your device's clock to simulate a lunar calendar. Some parts of the game can only be completed when the moon is in the proper phase. However, this can be side-stepped by activating a secret Moon Grotto or by manually adjusting the clock on your computer.

It's impossible to discuss this game without mentioning its beautiful soundtrack, which plays an integral role in the player's experience.

Sword & Sworcery is broken into three chapters, so these might be good breaking points. However, this game saves automatically, so players can quit at pretty much whenever they like.
