Polish indie team 11 bit Studios released the excellent city sim builder Frostpunk earlier this year (read our review). Today sees the release of the new People and Automatons DLC – and it’s free.

As far as DLC goes, People and Automatons doesn’t add new content so much as update the visual designs and add some customization and bug fixes. You can now name your citizens and automatons, which also allows you to search for them to quickly find any individual (or machine).

New art designs were given to hunter airships as well as Hunter Huts, Gathering Posts, Outposts, and Workshops. These buildings will now have multiple designs available, adding to the aesthetic of the city and making it easier to find certain buildings. The building snap grid has also been given a small yet lovely update – buildings will auto-adjust to fill in small gaps, providing a much better looking layout.

While the devs acknowledge that People and Automatons isn’t the most exciting DLC, there are more updates to come. Coming up next is a new scenario, The Builders, followed by an Endurance mode. No dates but they’re expected to be out later this year. Best of all, they’re all free.

Frostpunk is available on PC. It’s rated M for Mature.
