Firaxis Games, 2K, and Aspyr Media have announced Sid Meier’s Civilization VI arrival on the iOS App Store today. It’s only available for new-ish iPads and downloaded for free, with a 60-turn limit. The full game is priced at $59.99, making it one of the most expensive iOS games I’ve ever seen. It’s currently on sale for 50% off ($29.99) until January 4, 2018.

Civilization VI is the first Civ game to arrive on mobile, and has been rebuilt for touch screen controls. It includes everything in the base game but does not currently support any of the DLC packs.

Civilization VI requires iOS 11 and an iPad Air  or newer. The iPad version of Civilization VI was developed by Aspyr Media, who specializes in adapting large gaming franchises to mobile devices.

Civ 6 originally released last year on PC to rave reviews (read our review) . Numerous free updates and paid DLC packs have been released since. The first major expansion, Rise and Fall, was recently announced and scheduled for a February 8, 2018 release. Currently there are no plans to add DLC or expansions to the iOS version, but I imagine they’re working on it.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI is available now on iOS exclusively for iPad. It’s downloaded as a free-to-play demo but costs $59.99 to unlock the full game. The 50% off $29.99 sale ends January 4, 2018.
