Thunder Lotus Games revealed their sophomore title, Sundered, will be launching July 28 on PC (Win, Mac, Linux) and PlayStation 4 for $19.99. Pre-orders are now available on Steam, PlayStation Store, GOG, and Uplay.

“I’m extremely excited to announce that Sundered is releasing on July 28th!” said Will Dubé, Creative Director and President of Thunder Lotus Games. “From the announcement, to the Kickstarter, to the alphas and betas, the fans have supported us. We thank them with all our hearts and hope to blow their f- minds!”

The trailer, titled Resist or Embrace, shows off the hand-drawn world that at times looks like a professionally animated film. Heroine Eshe battles against the world’s corrupted evil, as well as her own mind.

Sundered benefited from a successful Kickstarter campaign earlier this year. Thunder Lotus Games raised over $200,000 CA from nearly 5,000 backers. Sundered is designed as a replayable Metroidvania with an eldritch horror/hell theme. I’m pleasantly surprised that the campaign predicted July as the game’s official release date.

Sundered has not yet been rated. Jotun was rated T for Teen for Violence, but Sundered looks a bit darker and more horror-themed.

To celebrate the upcoming launch, Thunder Lotus Games’ first title, Jotun is free to download and play on Steam and GoG. Grab it before Monday, 9 am Pacific/12 pm Eastern. Jotun: Valhalla Edition is also getting a limited physical run for PS4 courtesy of Limited Run games. Only 4,800 copies will be produced.

Jotun released in 2015 for PC and 2016 for PS4, Wii U, and Xbox One. It was also on Kickstarter, raising $64,000 from a little over 2,000 backers. It was praised for its art style, big boss fights, and storytelling.

Sundered will release on July 28 for PC and PlayStation 4.
