The wait is over for those who backed Yooka-Laylee on Kickstarter. Starting July 28th, backers who chose to donate for access to the Toybox or Toybox+ will receive their codes via email.

Yooka-Laylee is an upcoming action/adventure platformer from Playtonic Games. The Toybox is meant to give fans a peek at what the game will be like. Unlike a traditional demo, however, the Toybox doesn’t feature any actual gameplay from Yooka-Laylee. Instead, players will be able to explore and experience a sandbox world that is separate from the final product. The goal is to give backers the chance to test out Yooka-Laylee’s core mechanics before release while offering the developers helpful feedback in return.

Fans of Banjo-Kazooie will recognize some of its charm in Yooka-Laylee. Several of the key developers who worked on Banjo-Kazooie have banded together at Playtonic to create this spiritual successor. The game stars a chameleon called Yooka and his pal Laylee, a bat, on an adventure to save the world’s literature from the evil clutches of Capital B and Dr. Quack. Yooka-Laylee is slated for final release during Quarter 1 of 2017.

Meanwhile, Playtonic reminds backers of the game to check their emails so they can start playing the Toybox today!
