All of the LEGO games have followed pretty much the same formula. You play as a character, running around smashing things and solving simple puzzles that involve switching characters or constructing pre-determined items in order to progress. But LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be shaking up that formula in a few different ways.

The first of these gameplay elements is Blaster Battles. You’ve always been able to use various types of weapons in LEGO games, but with this type of weapon, you’ll need to take cover. This is an element that’s used in many games. You’ll need to hide behind something and pop up or out to shoot your foes. We don’t know whether you can hide behind anything you want, or if there will be specified objects to hide behind.

Next up is Multi Builds. Building new structures in order to solve a puzzle is one of the hallmarks of the LEGO games.  But now players will have the option of choosing between different different things to build by dealing with those bouncing piles of blocks. And the new structures can be broken apart to build different ones.

Finally, the biggest change is Flight Gameplay. Players will be able to fly a number of spaceships and participate in dog fights and arena-based battles. With all of these changes, it sounds like LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be a refreshing twist from previous games.

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens is scheduled for release on June 28.
