Ubisoft announced today a new game they’re making for a number of VR platforms. Werewolves Within is designed to recreate the experience of playing a board game with friends by using VR.

The game is being developed by Red Storm Entertainment in collaboration with Ubisoft Barcelona. Werewolves Within has players tracking down werewolves that have been terrorizing the residents of a small medieval town. The game is specifically a multiplayer game with support for five to eight players. Specific roles with different abilities are assigned to each player. These roles change every round so no one player has an unfair advantage. Werewolves Within can be played with just friends or others through matchmaking features.

The game is designed to be more than just the taking of turns. The VR technology will also track a person’s body language and voice to help form their in-game avatar.

“VR is proving to be an amazing platform for social interaction, moving toward truly feeling like you are there with other people,” said David Votypka, Sr. Creative Director at Red Storm Entertainment in an official statement. “Werewolves Within gives players a taste of how VR can generate strong social connections, allowing you to get together to have a great time with others no matter how near or far they are.”

Ubisoft is entering the VR market with full force. Besides Werewolves Within, the company is also producing Eagle Flight, a breath-taking (or nausea-inducing) game where you can fly around the world as an eagle. Werewolves Within is scheduled for release in the fall of 2016.
